Over the past few weeks, Steven Gerrard has been one of Florian Wirtz’s biggest supporters.

The German international received a lot of flak before the international break as he continued to underwhelm for Liverpool.

However, even at the time, Gerrard urged the Reds to retain faith in Wirtz, referring to him as a gifted player.

And now, after his upturn in form, the former Liverpool captain believes he is finally letting his football do the talking.

And Gerrard has praised the 23-year-old for his comments as he hailed his attitude.

“As I said before, that’s the right attitude and mentality to have, just focus on your game and your next performance,” said Gerrard via The Overlap.

“Whether you play well or it doesn’t go well for you. At Liverpool, the games come every 3-4 days. Just get ready for the next one.”

“But to be fair to the kid he’s not feeling sorry for himself. He’s still going out there and trying to create and score for the team.

“Wirtz has been an awful lot better in recent weeks. Yesterday, he was outstanding in the first half.”

Wirtz is playing well at the moment, but it still feels like he has a few more gears to show at Anfield.
