Since the start of the year, there haven’t been many players at Liverpool that have performed more consistently than Emre Can.
The German has managed to nail down a regular place in the Liverpool midfield for the first time since arriving at the club and is quickly becoming one of Jurgen Klopp’s most dependable players.
Can’s contract expires next summer and the Reds have been trying to tie him down to improved terms but as of yet, an agreement over a long-term contract has yet to be reached.
Serie A champions Juventus were interested in Can during the summer transfer window and are believed to have had at least one bid turned down for the former Bayern Munich man, while PSG were also credited with interest, but Liverpool could be fielding calls from the Premier League for Can in the near future.
It’s claimed that both Manchester United and Chelsea are keeping tabs on the 23-year-old with a view to signing the midfielder on a free transfer when his Liverpool contract ends at the end of the season.
Bayern Munich have also been linked with a move to re-sign Can when they can open pre-contract talks in January, while Juventus have signalled their intent to try again for the Germany international.
Liverpool’s priority remains agreeing a new contract with Can but with Naby Keita arriving from RB Leipzig next summer in a club-record £48m deal, perhaps the Reds are preparing for the worst as Manchester United and Chelsea join Bayern Munich and Juventus in pursuit of Can.
