Max Meyer rejects Schalke deal amid Liverpool interest

Liverpool are likely to enter the transfer market in the summer for a creative midfielder having sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in January and Schalke star Max Meyer is one of the club’s top targets according to the Mirror.

Meyer has been on the radar of both AC Milan and Tottenham in recent times as Schalke begin to fear the Germany international will follow Leon Goretzka out of the club on a free transfer after the former Bochum star agreed a deal to join Bayern Munich next season once his contract expires.

Set to become a free agent in June, Meyer has rejected a new contract offer from Schalke in order to pursue a move elsewhere and Liverpool along with Arsenal are said to be very interested in bringing him to the Premier League.

The 22-year-old has also been linked with Barcelona and is primarily a creative midfielder despite playing the majority of this season in a deeper midfiekd two Schalke.
