The contract dispute between Liverpool and Emre Can continues to hang over Anfield and there appears to be no resolution on the horizon, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Liverpool are eager to tie the former Bayern Munich youngster down to a new long-term contract but despite negotiations being ongoing for over 14 months, the two parties are no closer to reaching an agreement and Can looks set to become a free agent at the end of the season.
Can joined the club in the summer of 2014 from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth a reported £10.8m and spent his first couple of seasons at the club trying to find out what role was best for him.

Having been used at right-back and as a centre-back in a back three, Can over the last 18 months has cemented himself as part of a three-man midfield most frequently alongside Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana or Gini Wijnaldum.
With his contract winding down just as he enters perhaps the best form of his career, Can and his representatives suddenly were presented with great leverage in contract negotiations, with some reports claiming the Germany international was seeking in excess of £100,000-a-week.
Serie A giants Juventus have been heavily linked with a move for Can on a free transfer next summer after failing with a big in the last transfer window, while Manchester United, Chelsea and PSG have all been linked in recent weeks and are keeping tabs on the situation.
