Sadio Mane suffers recurrence of hamstring injury

Liverpool have been dealt another injury blow following the news that Sadio Mane has suffered a recurrence of the hamstring injury that kept him out for a month earlier this season.

Mane first sustained the injury on international duty with Senegal last month during a 2-0 win over Cape Verde but made his return in the 4-1 win over West Ham earlier in November.

Senegal were looking to secure their place at next summer’s World Cup during the international break with Mane playing a starring role in their attack.

While the job was done against South Africa, it came at a price for Liverpool after Mane suffered a slight return of his old injury, a Senegal statement read.

After talks between the Senegal and Liverpool medical staff, it’s been determined that the winger will return to Melwood for further assessment and treatment on the injury. It’s unknown how long he could miss, if any time at all.
