Liverpool want to add some more talent and creativity to their midfield ahead of the new season and ESPN believe that they are interested in signing Schalke’s Max Meyer, but face competition from Tottenham for his signature.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has just a year left to run on his contract with the Bundesliga side and has confirmed that he will not be signing an extension.
Schalke are ready to sell the attacking midfielder and it seems as if they have already found a replacement for the Germany international.
French newspaper Ouest-France (h/t Football London), Schalke are closing in on the signing of 20-year-old Nantes playmaker Amine Harit and are poised to secure his signature on a four-year contract.
Harit is a very similar player to Meyer and it appears as if Schalke wanted to bring in a replacement before allowing him to leave the club for good.
Meyer can be had for as little as £17.5m this summer and both Liverpool and Tottenham are interested in signing him as a summer transfer edges closer following the news that Schalke are poised to sign Harit.
