Liverpool forward Xherdan Shaqiri says that he is looking forward to testing himself against Bayern Munich in the Champions League this week.
The Reds host Bayern Munich at Anfield on Tuesday in the first leg of their round of 16 clash in Europe’s premier cup competition.
It will be a reunion for Shaqiri, who played 81 times for Bayern Munich between 2012 and 2014, scoring 17 goals for the Bundesliga giants.
He won two Bundesliga titles and lifted the Champions League trophy during his time with Bayern, as he looks to now replicate the latter with Liverpool.
Speaking to The Mirror, Shaqiri said this:
I’m looking forward to the game.

It was an amazing time [at Bayern]. Two-and-a-half years I was there and it was amazing; we won a lot of titles, we won the Champions League.
We had the best team Bayern Munich had.
It was an amazing feeling to win so many trophies. I had many great memories there, I will never forget them.
I’m really looking forward to going there and trying to win the game.
The Swiss international has scored six goals in 18 Premier League appearances for Liverpool this season, after joining from Stoke in the summer.
