Tottenham are reportedly looking to hijack a deal to sign one-time Liverpool and Chelsea target Marco Asensio.
Marca, as cited on the Mirror, go as far as suggesting that contact over a deal has been made, with Spurs looking ahead to the January window.
Mauricio Pochettino is said to be a huge admirer of the player and believes he can add a lot of creativity to his squad.
Tottenham are keen to make a big signing in the new year after failing to land a single player over the course of the previous transfer window.
Asensio has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Liverpool said to be interested.
Fellow Premier League rivals Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in the Spanish international.
Reports have suggested that the midfield maestro could be offered to the Blues as part of any potential deal to take Eden Hazard to the Bernabeu next summer.
