Trent Alexander-Arnold nominated for Golden Boy award

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s meteoric rise at Liverpool has seen him nominated for the European Golden Boy award.

The Daily Mail reports that the Liverpool defender is one of a number of Premier League players to join the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Christian Pulisic on the list.

Mbappe, who won the award in 2017, is among the favourites to win it yet again this year.

The winner is to be decided by a group of European journalists and will be announced at the end of the year in December.

Everton’s Tom Davies and Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon join fellow promising English youngsters Phil Foden and Alexander-Arnold in earning a nomination.

The young Liverpool defender broke into the Reds’ first-team squad last season and has since made the right-back spot his own.

His energy and attacking nature was a key part of Liverpool’s route to the Champions League final.

Alexander-Arnold has started this season in similar fashion with a number of impressive showings for the Reds.
