Last night the Netherlands beat Gareth Southgate’s England’s side 3-1 in the Nations League semi-final in Portugal.

Throughout the night, the Netherland’s captain Virgil van Dijk was addressed by the England fans with constant booing.

Following the booing, van Dijk slyly trolled the England fans, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

Van Dijk trolled the booing England fans after liking a tweet posted by Marten de Roon which mocked the famous England chant “It’s coming home.”

The Liverpool man captained his team in Portugal and ended up securing a place in the Nations League final after a successful spell in extra time.

Their win was slightly against the odds after a poor first half, but the Dutch grew into the game as England faltered.

Van Dijk has had an extremely successful year with Liverpool. He came second in the Premier League and won the Champions League. Then reaching the final of the Nations League with his home country to top it off.
