Van Dijk’s arrival isn’t the end for Coutinho says Klopp

Van Dijk’s arrival isn’t the end for Coutinho says Klopp

Liverpool do not need to sell Philippe Coutinho in January following the arrival of Virgil van Dijk, according to manager Jurgen Klopp.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Klopp was coy in his response to claims the Reds needed to balance the books after splashing the cash to bring in the Dutch defender.

Nobody told me that. I have no information about that. No. There is nothing to say. The only thing I am interested in is how Phil is playing at the moment.

Van Dijk has been a long-term target for the Reds, who confirmed earlier in the week that he would join from Southampton for £75 million in January.

His arrival had led to some suggestions that the money would be coming from Coutinho eventually seeing a move to Barcelona after a deal failed to materialise in the summer.

Despite speculation about his future, Coutinho has hit form for the Reds in recent weeks.

The Brazilian has scored seven goals in his last seven appearances across all competitions, registering four assists along the way.
