Virals: Liverpool ‘huge fans’ of Brazilian forward Antony

Liverpool are reported to be ‘huge fans’ of highly sought after Ajax forward Antony

The Reds have been linked with the 21-year-old previously and it would appear that the interest hasn’t subsided.

Premier League rivals Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are also believed to be keen on the Brazilian.

That’s according to a report from 90Min, as cited by Graeme Bailey on Twitter.

The report claims that Liverpool ‘have been watching’ the five-cap Brazil ace since before a 2020 switch to the Eredivisie from Sao Paolo.

This season Antony – hailed as ‘wonderful‘ by Piet de Visser – has scored 11 times and provided eight assists in 25 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £31.5million and under contract in Holland until 2025 (Transfermarkt), signing the Brazilian for a previously mooted €40million (£33.5million) asking price would be a smart move.

Predominantly a right-winger, Antony would likely be satisfied with an understudy role to Mohamed Salah for the time being whilst still learning to perform at the elite level.

Already boasting an array of key attacking attributes such as very strong finishing, passing and ball retention (WhoScored), it’s evident to see why Jurgen Klopp and others would be big admirers of yet another talented Brazilian.

matchday.
