Virals: Liverpool reportedly interested in Roma starlet Ebrima Darboe

Liverpool have already begun their summer transfer activity in typical efficient style by clinching the signing of RB Leipzig central defender Ibrahima Konate.

Unsurprisingly the Reds focussed on the defensive department as the first port of call after Jurgen Klopp was forced to mix and match in the position all season long.

Now priorities are set to switch to midfield and attacking options – with the former in need of bolstering following the departure of the ever-present Gini Wijnaldum.

According to a report from 90min, as cited by Football Italia on Twitter, Liverpool are among a host of clubs to have taken an interest in AS Roma midfielder Ebrima Darboe.

The initial report also mentions interest from West Ham, Brighton and Hove Albion, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Norwich City as well as from across Europe.

This season, Darboe scored five times and registered two assists in 25 appearances across all competitions – earning an average Sofascore rating of 6.76 in five Serie A outings.

Despite only being in the fledgeling stages of his career, the 19-year-old Gambian was described as a ‘golden child’ by agent Miriam Peruzzi.

Predominantly a defensive-minded midfielder, signing Darboe would offer an alternative option to Fabinho and others in the department.

Still just a teenager, despite perceived desperation to play a major part in senior football, having the opportunity to learn from the likes of Jordan Henderson, Thiago and the Brazilian himself would be perfect for the youngster’s development.

Remarkably valued at just £90,000 as a relative unknown and under contract in Rome until 2023, Liverpool must fancy their chances of landing a bargain.

One thing is for sure is that Liverpool need strength in depth in all positions – something the signing of a prospect like Darboe would help provide.
