Virals: Liverpool youngster Liam Millar close to permanent departure

Liverpool youngster Liam Millar is believed to be nearing a permanent exit from Anfield this summer.

The 21-year-old is expected to join Swiss side, FC Basel, in the coming days after a loan spell at Charlton Athletic in 2020/21.

Millar scored five times and registered seven assists whilst with the Addicks and interest was believed to be forthcoming from Championship clubs.

According to a report from the Liverpool Echo, as cited by Liverpool FC News on Twitter, the Canadian forward will join the 20-time Swiss Championship title-winners.

The report claims the Reds rejected an opening bid for the 11-cap senior international and before meeting a seven-figure asking price.

Millar has appeared just once for the first team at Anfield, making a senior debut in the FA Cup replay win over Shrewsbury Town.

Selling off fringe players remains a priority at Liverpool in order to fund any more spending Jurgen Klopp has in mind.

Whilst the sale of the versatile Millar won’t make waves in the budget, moving on players of the Canadians ilk is an important part of the summer transfer window.

Next on the agenda could be finding permanent moves for Marko Grujic, Harry Wilson and Neco Williams.
