One of the most discussed and written-about transfer sagas of the past month is about to come to an end as Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk has rejected the advances of other clubs and decided that he wants to be a Liverpool player.
It is no secret that Liverpool wanted Van Dijk and they are about to get their wish as he’s decided to reject the chance to join both Chelsea and Manchester City and instead make the move to Anfield.

One month ago, we reported that the 25-year-old wanted to join Liverpool if they qualified for the Champions League, provided the club met his terms and whilst we don’t have any information in terms of finances at this stage, the Dutchman and his representatives are apparently happy with the offer from Liverpool and the player has decided that the Reds are the club he wants to play for.
Jurgen Klopp has spoken to Van Dijk and told him exactly how he fits into his plans and working for the German manager is supposedly what made him choose Liverpool over the other clubs who wanted him.
A fee for the player and its payment structure is yet to be agreed between Liverpool and Southampton – and that discussion will now go ahead – but with the player having decided that he wants to move to Merseyside, it looks like a matter of time before an official announcement is made.
