Wigan make late move to loan in Wilson

League One leaders Wigan Athletic have reportedly made a late bid to loan Liverpool winger Harry Wilson until the end of the season, according to The 72.

The Liverpool U23 captain is thought of very highly in the youth academy at Melwood and it looks like he may be sent out on loan for a second time.

He was loaned out to Crewe Alexandra in 2015, where he made just seven appearances for the Cheshire side.

The Wrexham-born 20-year-old has also received a cap for Wales, making him Liverpool’s youngest international, along with the record of youngest player to make a senior appearance for the Dragons.

Wigan Athletic currently sit top of the League One table and are in the fifth round of the FA Cup, where they face Premier League leaders Manchester City at the DW Stadium after defeating West Ham United 2-0.

However, they are just a point clear of Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers, and so Paul Cook, in his first season at the Latics, is looking to strengthen for the second half of the season and Wilson could be just the late loan move he wants to help them secure the League One title this campaign.

Wilson, as is well known, has a lot of potential and is still a great young player for Liverpool, but as he hasn’t made a single senior appearance this season, game time is now his necessity. Wigan can offer him that.
