Cody Gakpo Tottenham Interest Confirmed As Liverpool Delay Transfer Decision

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo has been confirmed, but the Reds are not expected to make a quick decision on his future while the Netherlands international is still at the World Cup.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has said Spurs are among the clubs trying to understand whether a deal can be done for Gakpo this summer, though Liverpool have not given the green light for an exit. The update, carried by This Is Anfield’s report on Gakpo and Tottenham, keeps the 27-year-old’s situation firmly in the transfer spotlight.

Liverpool stance keeps Gakpo decision on hold

Gakpo’s value to Liverpool is complicated by timing. He remains under contract until 2030 and has started the World Cup sharply with the Netherlands, strengthening the argument that Liverpool should avoid any rushed sale.

Romano’s update also makes clear this is not being framed as an imminent move. Liverpool are still described as happy with Gakpo, and any serious decision is more likely after his tournament commitments are over.

That matters because Liverpool are already reshaping their attack under Andoni Iraola, with Victor Munoz arriving and further wide-forward links continuing. ReadLiverpoolFC has previously covered why Gakpo’s Liverpool valuation remains a key part of the debate, and Tottenham’s interest now gives that question a fresh Premier League edge.

For now, the story is interest rather than agreement. Unless Spurs make a proposal Liverpool deem serious, Gakpo’s future looks set to stay unresolved until the World Cup picture clears.
