Liverpool have entered the race for Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace and will face competition from Manchester United for the signing.
As reported by CaughtOffside, Liverpool have made phone contact with Crystal Palace to enquire over a transfer for Adam Wharton.
Manchester United are reported to have already held meetings with Palace over the midfielder.
Alan Shearer previously commented on Wharton’s performance at Anfield last season, describing him as “outstanding”.
Wharton was not included in the England World Cup squad for this summer, and his forward passing was missing from the team as they tried to maintain a lead against Argentina.
What does the future hold for Liverpool’s midfield?
A move for Wharton could be a sign that Liverpool are ready to move on from Alexis Mac Allister, who has been linked to Real Madrid, Manchester City and Galatasaray in recent days.
It could also be an indication on the future of Curtis Jones, who has been linked with a move to Inter Milan.
Wharton would solve a few problems in the squad as he is a homegrown player and also is a great all-round player with his passing and defensive abilities.
