RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita wants to join Liverpool this summer, according to Ed Malyon, the Sports Editor of The Independent.
Whilst speaking about Liverpool’s reported interest in the midfielder on BBC Radio 5Live, Malyon said:
From what I understand the player is keen. The player wants to move to Liverpool.
Of course, transfers are never so simple as players just automatically getting what they want and Liverpool’s biggest issue will be persuading Leipzig to sell.
As Malyon said:
However, £70m is a lot of money and I think Leipzing are rich enough to stand by and say ‘we’re not going to let him go unless you stump up the cash’ and then the ball is in Liverpool’s court.
There have been reports suggesting that the player has already agreed in principle to personal terms with the Reds and now all that’s left to do is for Liverpool to make the Bundesliga side an offer which they simply can’t turn down.
There is a clause in Keita’s contract that will allow him to leave Leipzig next summer for around £48million, so if Liverpool do offer up the reported £70million for him, the Bundesliga side will have a decision to make.
