Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Takumi Minamino, who will officially become a Reds’ player when the transfer window opens on January 1st.
The Japanese star may not have been a household name for Liverpool fans but impressed many observers when Red Bull Salzburg came to Anfield and played their part in an exciting game, which the home side eventually won 4-3.
As such, the rumours about his possible arrival has been met with excitement by plenty of supporters.
Minamino will officially become a Liverpool player on January 1st, meaning he won’t be registered in time for the Premier League clash with Sheffield United and Anfield on January 2nd.
Therefore, if selected by Jurgen Klopp, Minamino could make his debut in the FA Cup third round clash against Everton a few days later.
The last player to make his Liverpool debut in a Merseyside Derby FA Cup clash was Virgil van Dijk, who scored the winning goal in a 2-1 win back in January 2018.
