Liverpool set to trigger Ibrahima Konaté release clause ‘in the coming hours’ says Fabrizio Romano

The season is now finished and attentions have started to turn towards the upcoming summer transfer window.

Liverpool are set for a busy few months and it seems as though action in the market has already kicked off.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are set to trigger the €35million relese clause of Ibrahima Konaté in the coming hours…

The news comes after the club have been linked with the Frenchman for some time now.

Liverpool struggled throughout the season with defensive options after a number of injuries.

By January, the Reds found themselves without all three of their senior centre-backs in Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip.

This led to a few reinforcements during the January window to sure up their options for the rest of the season.

Now, it appears as though the club are looking for a long-term solution.

Konaté looks a great young player for Leipzig and fits the profile for the type of signing Liverpool would go for.

Young, strong, fast, and a good defensive record in the Bundesliga.

For just €35million it seems as though Liverpool are sorting out their defence for the next decade.

The club has a great options of youngsters at the back, all of which have plenty of talent.

Hopefully, this signing should prevent anything like this season from reoccurring.

The Reds will need every bit of quality in the squad if they have hopes of winning the title again next season.
