Sadio Mane is undoubtedly one of Liverpool’s most important players of the modern era under Jurgen Klopp.

The Senegalese forward was an important part of the German’s all-conquering team as he forged a fantastic partnership with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

The trio has departed and the Reds are aiming to kickstart a new era under Andoni Iraola.

And if reports from France are to be believed, Liverpool want to sign a player who has drawn comparisons with Mane himself.

Liverpool want to sign Ibrahim Mbaye from PSG

Fabrice Hawkins reports that the PSG youngster is attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in the world this summer.

Liverpool are one of the clubs mentioned, but the likes of Tottenham, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and Chelsea are also in the running, making him one of the most coveted youngsters in the world.

Mbaye is also a Senegal international and has rubbed shoulders with Mane at the national team.

The former Liverpool man announced his retirement from the national team after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, though, passing the torch to youngsters such as Mbaye.

And Mane was also quick to praise the 18-year-old, with whom he shares a similar style of play.

“Seventeen years old and at this level, I think it’s impressive,” said the Senegal captain via Rousing the Kop after Mbaye’s World Cup debut. “He has a bright future ahead of him.

“We will try to help him find the right rhythm so that he can help us even more, because he is an exceptional player.”

The similarities between Mane and Mbaye are impossible to miss as they represent the same country, play a similar brand of football and occupy the same spaces on a football pitch.

Will Mbaye follow Mane’s footsteps to Anfield, though, is the question. And judging by the Liverpool icon’s comments, the Reds would be foolish not to make a move for him if he’s available this summer.
