With Philippe Coutinho seeking a transfer to Barcelona, Liverpool are scribbling down contingency plans for if the Brazilian gets his way and leaves Anfield this summer.
Jurgen Klopp’s shortlist of replacements for Coutinho reportedly contains Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne, who has also been linked with a move to Chelsea this summer.
However, both Premier League clubs were gazumped by Barcelona in the race to sign the Italy international after the La Liga side submitted a £54.5m bid for Insigne, an offer that was rejected.

Barcelona, frustrated by seeing their bid rejected, are set to end their interest there in Insigne as they grow increasingly confident in signing Borussia Dortmund star Ousmane Dembele, as well as Coutinho, to replace the recently departed Neymar.
Valued at £60m, the 26-year-old attacker scored 18 goals last season in Serie A, helping Napoli to a third-placed finish and a spot in this season’s Champions League.
Both Chelsea and Liverpool are still weighing up offers of their own for the forward but now Barcelona are out of the race to sign him, they could be encouraged to lodge bids.
