Brazilian defender Cafu has praised Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and has also given the youngster some advice for his future.
Alexander-Arnold has had a meteoric rise through the ranks. He only made his competitive first-team debut in October 2016, starting at right-back in a 2–1 win over Tottenham in the League Cup.
In just over two years since, the Liverpool-born star has gone on to play 68 games for the Reds, including an appearance in the Champions League final. He’s also played at a World Cup for England and has five national team caps.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Cafu praised Alexander-Arnold’s talent and gave him some advice for the future.
To play for the England national team, you have to be very good and to play at Liverpool, you have to be very, very good but it takes time to mature and be consistent. Yes, he is very talented. For his position, I would advise him to work hard, do a lot of training, but above all show a lot of commitment to what he does.

Cafu played 525 club games throughout his 18-year career, winning two Serie A titles and the Champions League. He also played 142 games for Brazil, with whom he won two World Cups and two Copa Americas, so he knows a thing or two about longevity and success and he explained the keys to his success.
Never think that he is good enough. Don’t get complacent or big-headed. Work more and more. When I was the same age, I was playing for Sao Paulo in the main team. I was a father, so I had a lot of responsibility. Twenty years old is a good age to make a decision if he wants to be a football player or a ‘professional’ football player with a long, respected career.
