Liverpool-linked David Alaba favours move to Barcelona or Real Madrid

David Alaba would favour a move to either Barcelona or Real Madrid, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk on Twitter.

The 28-year-old could leave Bayern Munich in January, with contract talks deteriorating at the Allianz Arena. Liverpool have been linked with a move for Alaba in the next transfer window, although nothing too concrete has appeared yet.

Falk’s update claims that Barcelona or Madrid are the defender’s preferred destinations, although Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Manchester City have also been mooted as other suitors.

It does appear as though Liverpool are way down the pecking order with regards to Alaba, but he would be a superb signing if they got a deal over the line.

The Austrian is a fantastic footballer who has been at the top level for a decade now, proving to be one of the world’s best left-backs over a sustained period.

Alaba shone at centre-back for Bayern last season, highlighting his versatility, something which could suit Liverpool down to the ground with their current defensive injury crisis.

Like Thiago, he is still young enough to spend several years at the top, potentially putting his vast experience and quality to good use.

matchday.
