El-Hadji Diouf regrets signing for Liverpool

Former Reds forward El-Hadji Diouf regrets signing for Liverpool and says that he wishes he’d have joined Manchester United instead.

The arrival of Diouf, who joined Liverpool in 2002 for £10m, was met by excitement after his impressive performances for Senegal at the 2002 World Cup, but he never lived up to the hype.

The forward played 80 times in two seasons for the Reds, but only managed to score six goals in that time before he was sent on loan to Bolton Wanderers, whom he then went on to sign for on a permanent deal.

Speaking on RMC’s Footisme show, as per GFFN, Diouf said:

I can say today that the shirt that I regret wearing the most was Liverpool’s, because if I were to do that part of my career again, I would have gone to FC Barcelona or Manchester United. At the time, they wanted me too.

It isn’t hard to think that most Liverpool fans, and Diouf’s ex-teammates, wish he’d have gone to Barcelona or Manchester United too!
