Gini Wijnaldum set to be fit to face Leicester City

Liverpool have been given an injury boost with the news that Georginio Wijnaldum looks set to be fit to face Leicester City when the two sides meet next Wednesday evening.

The Dutchman missed the 4-3 win over Crystal Palace with a knee injury that he picked up a week earlier at Brighton but, barring any setbacks in his recovery, the midfielder is set to be fit and available for selection when the Foxes visit Anfield.

Speaking to the official Liverpool website, Jurgen Klopp announced that Wijnaldum would take part in one of the two training sessions that the Reds are having on Friday evening as he steps up his rehab program.

Gini is good, better. The plan is that he will have one session today and then we have to see how he reacts on that. Hopefully, we can build from that point.

Wijnaldum has been one of Liverpool’s standout performers this season and Klopp will be glad to have him back, especially as his midfield options are somewhat limited as James Milner is suspended for the game and there is a very good chance that Fabinho will be used at right-back.
