Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has been passed fit and is available for selection for this evening’s game against Southampton, as per Chris Bascombe of the Telegraph.
Gomez hasn’t featured for the Reds since he suffered a fracture to his lower leg back in December. He was expected to be back fit in February, but he had a set back which kept him sidelined for another few weeks.
The England international returned to training last week and has reacted well to the sessions and as such, he is fit and ready for selection.
Whether Jurgen Klopp decides to bring Gomez back into the first-team, or into the matchday 18, remains to be seen, especially as he’s not played any football for around four months.
Furthermore, Joel Matip and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who currently occupy the two positions here Gomez could play, are in good form and the manager may be hesitant to drop either for the must-win game.
