Former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has warned Jurgen Klopp that his side need to start winning trophies.
The now Newcastle boss is preparing to take his side to Anfield this weekend in what will be a crucial game for both sides.
As per a report from the Mirror, Benitez praised the way that Klopp has built his Liverpool side.
They play with quality and pace and that is what makes the difference in football. They have a lot of players with pace, especially the front three. They are strong physically and they also work very hard. It is a very good team.
We won four trophies, we played finals, semi-finals, we did well and the people that remember that. They don’t talk about this week when we won 5-1 against Aston Villa. They remember maybe when we beat Barcelona and Real Madrid. But they don’t remember the games.
They remember the stat of winning a trophy. You have to win. I feel they have the potential to do it.
The free-flowing, attacking nature of the football the Reds are playing is earning plenty of plaudits this season.
Klopp’s men have reacted brilliantly to losing Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in January, with the club’s front three performing brilliantly.
With Manchester City running away with the Premier League title, a place in the top four has been the aim for Klopp’s men.
Liverpool currently sit third in the Premier League table, two points behind second-place Manchester United.
Klopp will feel hopeful about their chances of securing a place in the Champions League with four points separating them and Chelsea in fifth place.
