Liverpool have a plan for youngster Taiwo Awoniyi

Liverpool apparently have a plan to get their youngster Taiwo Awoniyi into the top level of English football, according to Goal.

The Reds signed Awoniyi in 2015, but due to him having no work permit, he was sent out on loan to German second division side FSV Frankfurt, after which he went to the Netherlands to play for NEC Nijmegen.

However, even with the attack of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané, with the additions of Danny Ings, Daniel Sturridge, Dominic Solanke, Divock Origi, Ben Woodburn and Rhian Brewster, Klopp reportedly still sees a future at Anfield for Awoniyi.

This was helped by his third loan spell, at Belgian club Royal Exchange Mouscron, where he scored 10 goals and made seven assists throughout the 2017/18 season.

This included two goals to help the club reach the Europa League qualifying play-off spot, which made him the top goalscorer of all Liverpool players behind the deadly front three.

Liverpool want to send Awoniyi on loan to a top European side, such as Anderlecht, and hopefully he’ll then secure a work permit.

matchday.
