Liverpool have joined Barcelona in showing an interest in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Ruben Vinagre, according to a report from Portuguese outlet O Jogo, as translated by Sport Witness.

According to the report, Jurgen Klopp was impressed with Vinagre’s performance when Wolves knocked Liverpool out of the FA Cup in January and spoke to him about potentially joining the Reds after the game.

Barcelona have reportedly been scouting the 20-year-old, with their Cheif Scout attending some recent Wolves games and they too could be lining up a move for the Portuguese star.

Whilst Barcelona and Liverpool have established left-backs in Jordi Alba and Andy Robertson, both are in the market for a backup option this summer.

Alberto Moreno’s time at Anfield is coming to an end, so Klopp knows he needs to bring in cover for Robertson.

After spending last season on loan at Wolves, Vinagre signed for the Midlands club on a permanent deal in the summer, putting pen-to-paper on a five-year contract, so Liverpool will likely have to fork out a decent amount if they are to sign the left-back.
