Liverpool are still looking to add to their attack this summer and have been linked with a sizeable move for Benfica striker Raul Jimenez.
According to Portuguese source Record, as cited by Sport Witness, Liverpool and West Ham are interested in signing Jimenez and a bid of €45m (£39.5m) has been submitted from an unnamed Premier League club for him.
Capped 50 times by Mexico, Jimenez was a target for West Ham two years ago after an unsuccessful year at Atletico Madrid and were poised to sign the striker on a season-long loan before he failed to turn up for a medical and later completed a £18.7m move to Benfica.
Jimenez has scored 23 goals and laid on eight assists in 77 appearances for Benfica over the last two seasons, including 11 goals in 32 games during the last campaign.
With West Ham’s record signing sitting at just £20.5m, Liverpool, you would assume, are the most likely side to have lodged the substantial bid for Jimenez, but the Hammers are the team more desperate for a striker, so perhaps they could be the team that have submitted the offer.
