Oxlade-Chamberlain laughs off Henry comments

Liverpool’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has laughed off comments made by Thierry Henry about the player’s move to Anfield.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the former Gunners striker criticised the player when he left Arsenal in the summer, claiming ‘I still don’t know what he’s good at.’

After finding his feet in Jurgen Klopp’s side, Chamberlain claims that the comments now look a bit stupid.

It is not nice to hear it from your peers or people you have worked with. Those (Henry’s) comments are probably a bit stupid. When you have watched someone long enough you know what they can do.

I think it was more aimed at the end-product side of things and doing those things that lead to goals. I will take those comments on the chin.

Saying you “don’t know what I do” when you have worked with me, I think it is a bit stupid. If people want to say those things, you remember them, you don’t forget them, but I am not here to make enemies. It cannot shake me.

Both Henry and fellow Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville were critical of the move back in the summer.

Neville went as far as saying he’d ‘snap your hand off’ for the amount of money that the Reds offered Arsenal for the player.

Chamberlain has impressed in recent weeks, playing in a central role alongside Jordan Henderson.

There have even been calls for the duo to start together in midfield at this summer’s World Cup for England after their recent upturn in form.
