Paul Scholes tips Liverpool to retain the Premier League title

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes says Liverpool will retain the Premier League title this season.

The Reds were imperious on Sunday night, thumping Wolves 4-0 and going joint-level on points with current leaders Tottenham.

The 2,000 fans back inside Anfield were treated to an exhibition of football, as Jurgen Klopp’s men again laid down a marker to the rest of the league.

United fans aren’t exactly desperate to say nice things about Liverpool, but Scholes found it impossible not to.

Speaking on Amazon Prime after the game, the ex-England star tipped the Reds to be champions again next May:

It may have been said through gritted teeth, but Scholes is right in his assessment, with Liverpool still very much the team to beat this season.

Considering how many injuries they currently have, this is a remarkable effort, further highlighting the wonderful job Klopp is doing.

To comprehensively outplay a team as good as Wolves, without the likes of Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Thiago not starting, is hugely impressive.

A fully fit Liverpool would cruise to the title, in my opinion, but their fitness woes will make it trickier. On Sunday’s evidence, however, they are still the best team in the country, by a distance.
