QUIZ: How much do you know about Liverpool captains throughout history?

On this day in 1978, Liverpool completed the signing of Graeme Souness, who would go on to become one of the greatest players in Reds history.

Not only that, but the legendary Scot was also one of the most successful captains of all time, leading the troops superbly during the 1980s.

Souness isn’t the only person to have skippered Liverpool in dominant fashion, however, with Jordan Henderson a magnificent current leader, lifting the Champions League, Premier League, Club World Cup and UEFA Cup in the space of the last 19 months.

Steven Gerrard was also an iconic captain who inspired those around him unlike few others, with the likes of Tommy Smith, Emlyn Hughes, Phil Thompson and Alan Hansen also more than worthy of a mention.

We’ve decided to create a quiz all about Liverpool captains of the past – it’s time for you to prove your worth and showcase your knowledge of the Reds.

Best of luck…
