Schalke powerless in battle to keep Liverpool target Goretzka

Liverpool are believed to be one of many top European clubs chasing highly-rated Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka at the moment and it appears as if his time at Schalke is coming to an end.

The 22-year-old Germany international becomes a free agent at the end of the season when his contract expires and there are no signs that he will pen an extension with the Bundesliga club.

As quoted by Sport, Schalke’s sporting director, Christian Heidel, reveals the club have done everything possible to try and keep him and can’t do anything else as he looks set to complete a free transfer move next summer. You can bet on signs Goretzka at online-sportwette.net.

We are trying to convince him, also financially. We are trying to look for the best way to convince him to stay, but without putting pressure on him.

Liverpool themselves face a similar situation with Emre Can who is also set to become a free agent next summer. With no new contract on the horizon, it’s feasible that the Reds could move for Goretzka as a replacement for Can.

The Reds aren’t alone in their pursuit of Goretzka has sport also note that Arsenal, Manchester United and Juventus are all also chasing the young midfielder, while Barcelona and Bayern Munich have been linked in recent months.
