An incredible penalty statistic has emerged that shows how many penalties Manchester United win in comparison to Liverpool.
The Reds’ arch-rivals pulled level at the top of the Premier League on Friday night, following a 2-1 victory at home to Aston Villa.
United’s winner came from the penalty spot, with Bruno Fernandes firing home in the second half.
The spot-kick that was won by Paul Pogba looked very soft, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side again benefited from officials ruling in favour of them.
After the game, a staggering fact emerged thanks to Liverpool Football Club statistician Ged Rea on Twitter, who revealed that United have been given 42 penalties since Solskjaer became manager in December 2018.
Not only that, but Liverpool have only been awarded 46 in the whole of Jurgen Klopp’s reign, which started over five years ago:
19, Graeme. Liverpool have only been awarded 4 more (46) in the whole of Jurgen's tenure.

At this point, you have to wonder if United are being treated differently to others, considering what a freakish number of penalties they are winning.
If they were the best team in the country, finding themselves endlessly in opposition penalty areas, that could explain it to an extent, but that isn’t the case.
Instead, the actual best team are being given far fewer spot-kicks, with United so often seemingly getting ones that others don’t get.
Perhaps Alex Ferguson is still working his magic with referees!
