Virals: Liverpool ‘moving’ for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic

Liverpool are reportedly ‘moving’ for the signing of Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic

This comes after the president at the Serie A club Rocco Commisso confirmed that attempts to give the 21-year-old a new deal had failed.

Unsurprisingly that news has alerted multiple suitors and the Reds would appear to be among the frontrunners.

That’s according to a report from Italian outlet Tuttosport, as cited by Sport Witness on Twitter, claiming Juventus, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan are all alongside Liverpool in holding an interest.

The report claims it is ‘very probable’ that Vlahovic will be sold to avoid the risk of losing the 10-cap Serbian for nothing in 2023.

Following a remarkable 21 goal season in 2020/21, the towering frontman once hailed as a ‘force of nature’ by the Italian media already has six goals in eight appearances this term.

Signing Vlahovic would suggest a long term change in approach from Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

An out and out focal point centre-forward, the Serbian currently operates between Nicolas Gonzalez and Jose Callejon in a like for like 4-3-3 formation.

However, despite being a more prominent goal threat, Vlahovic would struggle to emulate the work rate and all-round play of Roberto Firmino.

This signing could spark the next evolution of Klopp’s side as the Reds learn to play with a recognised striker alongside the threat of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Valued at £36million and under contract in Florence until 2023 (Transfermarkt), Liverpool would be wise to seize the mooted ‘opportunity’ to sign a player with world-class potential at a cut-price fee.

matchday.
