Jasper Cillessen “desperate” to join Liverpool
The transfer market hotted up for Liverpool this week, as the Reds secured their first summer signing in the form of Fabinho, and there’s undoubtedly more players to come for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
One area reportedly under consideration is the goalkeeper spot, more heavily in the spotlight now after Loris Karius had a night to forget in Kiev.
On Wednesday, the club were linked with a move for Barcelona goalkeeper, Jasper Cillessen.
The 29-year-old has joined both Alisson and Jan Oblak on the ‘Goalkeepers Liverpool have been linked with in the last week’ list.
The Dutchman is, so Spanish reports say, “desperate” to join up with Jurgen Klopp and the Reds – and who can blame him?
Barcelona have been adamant to this point that he is not for sale, but this renewed urge to leave Spain and head to Merseyside could go some way to changing their minds on that.
Cillessen’s contract at Barcelona supposedly includes a release clause worth €60m, however, and with the club understood to be keen on retaining his services, prising Cillessen away could be an uphill battle for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
