Liverpool join race for Bernd Leno as Oblak and Alisson deals stall

Liverpool have expanded their goalkeeping search and are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Bernd Leno.

The Bayer Leverkusen shot-stopper has been heavily linked with a move away from the Bayer Arena this summer, and the Reds are the latest to join the race for the German international.

Get German Football detail other large teams chasing Leno as Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, and Napoli.

Should Leno move to Atletico Madrid, it would then be increasingly likely the Spaniards’ similarly unsettled goalkeeper Jan Oblak could then be poised for a move away.

Despite allegedly being ‘priced out’ of a deal for the Slovenian, the arrival of Leno could be expected to force manager Diego Simeone’s hand.

Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has a not-so-secret desire to replace existing goalkeeper Loris Karius, after a pair of howling errors in the Champions League final.

With a deal for Roma number one Alisson Becker encountering similar hurdles, Klopp seems to be diversifying his options.

Leno has played in 233 games for Leverkusen since joining in 2011, but at the age of 26 is craving a change of scenery.

With six Germany caps to his name, the Ludwigsburg-native is rightfully coveted by a series of Champions League clubs.
