Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has admitted that he gave Nabil Fekir the green light to join Liverpool earlier this month.

Speaking to RT France, the Ligue 1 club’s chief opened up on the collapsed deal for Fekir to arrive at Anfield and claimed that the impending transfer fell through as “things went really slow”.

Fekir was supposed to sign for Liverpool but things went really slow.

Liverpool were desperate to land Fekir but it’s believed that after agreeing a fee for the transfer, the Reds pulled out following complications in the player’s medical.

It’s understood that concerns were raised about the condition of Fekir knees, coinciding with his worrying record of injuries.

Whether or not the Reds will return in their pursuit of Fekir remains to be seen, but it seems as though Aulas is willing to allow his star man to leave Lyon if he is indeed desperate to depart the Ligue 1 giants.

Should Liverpool press ahead with their efforts to sign Fekir?
