Liverpool have entered the race to acquire the services of Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, according to Yahoo.
The Danish number one has been making a name for himself at the World Cup despite his side’s exit in the Round of 16.
Saving a late Luka Modric penalty in extra time, Schmeichel forced the match to a shootout. He would there deny two further penalties, but could not prevent Denmark being knocked out of the tournament.

Aged 31, the shot-stopper has a number of years left before the whisperings of retirement will begin to circulate, and as such has attracted interest from a pair of Premier League giants.
After the torrid Champions League final endured by Loris Karius, Liverpool have been not-so-secretly trying to replace the German during the summer transfer window.
Links with Jan Oblak, Alisson Becker, and Thomas Strakosha seem unlikely to come to fruition, and manager Jürgen Klopp seems ready to turn his attention elsewhere.
Schmeichel joined Leicester prior to the 2011-12 season, and has made at least 30 appearances in each of the Foxes campaigns since then.
A crucial part of the title-winning 2015-16 team, the Manchester City youth product has already tasted success.
The Reds won’t find it easy to secure Schmeichel’s signature however, with Chelsea also said to be keen on welcoming the 6 ft 3 in colossus through their doors.
