Liverpool’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur in September will now be played at Wembley Stadium, the North London club have confirmed.
The Reds were due to participate in Tottenham’s first ever home game in their new stadium, with the date of the fixture set at 15 September.
However, a recent statement from Spurs has revealed that this will not be a plausible occurrence for the two sides, with ‘recent testing and commissioning’ failing to comply with critical safety regulations.

As a consequence of these results, Liverpool will now face a trip to Wembley in mid-September, as they look to avenge last season’s shortcomings at the illustrious stadium.
Spurs defeated Jurgen Klopp’s men in a 4-1 victory in the early periods of last season, with Mohamed Salah netting Liverpool’s consolation goal.
The Reds will now return to Wembley, instead of being a part of Tottenham’s first fixture at their new stadium following their decision to leave White Hart Lane after the 2016/17 season.
