Jürgen Klopp has bemoaned the conduct of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, simultaneously confirming he will be staying at the club.

The Belgian had been linked with moves away from Anfield this summer, but Klopp was not prepared to wave goodbye to the shot-stopper.

The Reds opted to flog Loris Karius instead, with the out-of-sorts German heading to Besiktas.

With reports the Super Lig club had initially approached Liverpool for the transfer of Mignolet, the 30-year-old revealed to the press that he found the decision to retain him on Merseyside confusing.

This is not something that has gone down well with his manager.

Speaking in a press conference, Klopp said:

He will not be leaving. I would say discussing your problems in public doesn’t make too much sense. Better to speak to each other. If he was happy to be No.2 then I wouldn’t really know him. He’s a top professional, top goalie. Pretty good pay, by the way.

If you want to say something, say it to me directly than to a newspaper.

Perhaps a friendly warning for Liverpool’s number two goalkeeper…

Are you happy to see Mignolet stay as Alisson's no.2?
