Premier League side Liverpool are leading the race for the signature of Cagliari’s highly-rated midfielder Nicolo Barella, according to a report on CalcioMercato.
Barella has made a number of impressive performances in the Italian Serie A this season and is reportedly being monitored by various clubs.

The 21-year-old centre midfielder has earned high praise from Italy legend Andrea Pirlo and is widely tipped to become Italy’s next global star.
Barella is valued by the Serie A club at €40m and if he continues to impress this season, then that figure could yet increase.
The creative midfielder has found the back of the net once in the Italian top flight this season and managed to score six times last season, showing that he has an eye for goal.
However, the bad news for Liverpool is that multiple clubs are scouting the young Italian, including rivals Chelsea and Manchester United. Serie A clubs like Juventus and AC Milan are also keeping an eye on him as his stock continues to rise.
Liverpool already have a strong midfield department but know that Barella could give them some more dynamism and creativity in the middle of the pitch.
