Clyne will not be recalled by Liverpool

Liverpool will not be able to recall Nathaniel Clyne from his short-term loan move to AFC Bournemouth.

The Reds confirmed earlier on in the month that the England international had completed a temporary switch to Eddie Howe’s side until the end of the season.

However, it was revealed on Tuesday that first-choice right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is facing around four weeks on the sidelines after sustaining a knee injury.

This blow has left Jurgen Klopp with no recognised right-back at his disposal as the Reds enter a crucial stage of the season.

Liverpool are now left with little natural depth on the right-hand side of their defence and it has emerged, as per ESPN’s Glenn Price, that the club do not have a recall clause in Clyne’s loan deal at Bournemouth.

James Milner and Fabinho have both previously filled in on the right but both are natural midfielders, indicating that Klopp will need to tinker with his side if they are to retain the same defensive solidity that has led them to the top of the Premier League this season.
