Liverpool could sign Alaba for £30m in January

Liverpool could sign David Alaba for as little as £30m in January, according to Football Insider.

The Austrian looks increasingly likely to leave Bayern Munich in the next transfer window after talks over a new deal repeatedly collapsed.

Liverpool have been one of a host of clubs linked with a move for Alaba as Jurgen Klopp looks to bring in a defender to make up for the loss of Virgil van Dijk.

The Reds have reportedly been told that the 28-year-old will be available for £30m in January, with his contract at Bayern expiring next summer.

Much like Thiago, I think Alaba would be a fantastic signing for Liverpool, bringing a wealth of quality and experience to the squad. At 28, he also has plenty left in the tank, so he wouldn’t be someone arriving having drifted past his peak.

Alaba’s world-class pedigree speaks for itself, with nine Bundesliga titles and two Champions League crowns to his name, not to mention six Austrian Player of the Year awards.

He is currently impressing as a centre-back for Bayern but is equally comfortable at left-back and even in midfield, with that versatility an added bonus.

Alaba is a winner, just like Thiago, and he could give several years of superb service to Liverpool at a time when defensive reinforcements are required.
