Liverpool keen on completing move for Ajax defender Perr Schuurs

Liverpool are interested in making a move for Ajax centre-back Perr Schuurs, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The 21-year-old is the latest exciting defender to emerge at the Dutch giants, following on from Matthijs de Ligt, who has since joined Juventus.

Schurrs is similar in looks and style to De Ligt and impressed in Liverpool’s 1-0 win at Ajax in the Champions League last month.

It is now being reported that the Reds are keen on acquiring his services, with £27million the mooted amount they are willing to pay. It could be that £30million is the desired amount, though.

It is suggested that a January move could be on the cards, as Jurgen Klopp looks to tackle his current injury shortage in defence.

I still think it is imperative that Liverpool bring in a new defender next month, even though they are getting by without Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez at the moment.

Schuurs would be an ideal addition, not only coming in as a strong current option, but also representing the long-term future. He has a pass completion rate of 90.9 percent in the league this season, highlighting his quality on the ball.

His potential looks great, considering he is already a key man at Ajax at such a young, and Klopp will get another chance to watch him up close next Tuesday, as Liverpool host the Eredivisie side at Anfield.
