A number of Liverpool fans have been reacting negatively to the news that Kevin Friend will take charge of the Reds’ Premier League clash with Brighton.
The Merseysiders host the Seagulls on Wednesday evening, looking to continue their much-needed good form.
After a rocky period, Jurgen Klopp’s champions have recovered admirably, winning 3-1 away to both Tottenham and West Ham, despite having injuries to contend with.
Wednesday’s meeting with Brighton at Anfield is a must-win game, especially with a home clash against leaders Manchester City to come on Sunday afternoon.
It has been revealed that Friend will be the referee for the midweek action, with Simon Hooper on VAR duties.
It’s fair to say that the current crop of Premier League referees aren’t necessarily the most popular bunch, so most appointments are met with trepidation.
