Liverpool remain ‘very attentive’ in quest to sign Pedro Goncalves

Liverpool remain interested in signing Sporting CP star Pedro Goncalves, according to Record [via Sport Witness].

The 22-year-old had a weekend to remember last time around, scoring twice in his side’s 2-0 win away to Maritimo.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for winger Goncalves before and this latest report claims they remain ‘very attentive’ towards him.

The Reds are believed to have tracked ‘Pote’ in the January transfer window, but a move didn’t come to fruition.

Goncalves is a hugely exciting young player, so it is encouraging to see Liverpool reportedly monitoring his situation.

Sad though it may be, Jurgen Klopp has to start planning for a long-term new-look attacking unit, considering Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are all approaching 30.

That’s not to say they won’t all still be massive players for the foreseeable future, but a younger alternative needs to come in.

Goncalves could be that man, with 14 goals and two assists to his name in just 15 Primeira Liga appearances this season.

His ruthless end product is sure to have caught Klopp’s eye, suggesting he could be similarly productive in the final third at Anfield as his current front-three.
